About the Artist

“When I was about six or seven years old I fell in love for the first time. Admittedly - he probably wasn’t the typical first crush most girls go for. He wasn’t much to look at – delicate, tiny, and, probably worst of all – made of plastic. Nonetheless, he was my first camera – a 110mm micro key-chain camera – and I was in love. He may not have been much to look at – but, as with most things, it wasn’t about what was on the outside, it was about what was on the inside. And inside this little black plastic thrift store camera – was magic.

I’ve had quite a few cameras since that first one all those years ago. But what he taught me has stuck with me forever – with my little magic camera I could press a button and forever freeze any moment in time and keep it forever. Cameras would allow me to remember such simple details of moments – the shadows cast by the sun through the blinds in my Mom’s family room, the way the squirrel held the acorns like a candybar, the dew drops on the flowers in the morning, the beams of sunlight through the trees. And, most importantly – I discovered that these magical cameras could freeze beautiful moments and details of the people I love. My sister throwing her arms up and her head back in laughter as we sat in the backyard and told silly stories. My nephew, as a baby, discovering all the fun things you can do with a garden hose in a kiddy pool. The first few adorable little freckles to show up on my niece’s nose.

It was through photographing my family that I found my “calling”. I knew I wanted to capture these moments with my family – but I wanted to capture other family’s special moments for them as well. So, my life as a professional photographer began. Ever since, I have strived to not just document special moments for families- but to re-tell the stories and details of these moments for them.”
